What the Rash Looks Like and How It Progresses

The typical picture is a sharply demarcated patch of redness matching the area of contact, with small bumps, tiny blisters, and swelling. Itching is intense, and scratching spreads the eruption. In the acute phase, blisters may break and weep. When the condition becomes chronic, the skin thickens (lichenification) and can be left with lasting pigmentation.
